The 3% Movement held its annual conference in NYC on Nov. 2 and 3, and we were there to work the press room and cheer on the speakers and accomplishments from the Movement. This year’s theme was, “Beyond Gender” where the 3% Movement put together programming that highlighted race/ethnicity, LGBTQ communities, people with disabilities, and more; and how individuals in these sets are impacted in the advertising/creative industries. In addition, 50% of the speakers at this year’s conference were people of color. It was a diverse and inspiring line-up of speakers, and Kat Gordon, founder of The 3% Movement, said she felt this year’s conference was the best one yet. I (Nancy) am especially excited for what’s to come for 3%’s Creativity in Color community, and we’re blue-skying initiatives now.

From the 3% team bell-ringing at Twitter HQ to the announcement of the first 3% Certified agencies to front-page media coverage for The 3% Movement in the New York Times’ business section (you can read the coverage we secured in the NYT’s here) ~ it has been awesome to witness the impact that the Movement is making in the advertising and creative industries.

It also serves as a great reminder this time of year to continue to dream big and strive to make a difference. Read recaps and highlights from this year’s 3% Conference here.
