The Grape at International Plaza celebrates Bad Hair Day: WestBuk Art Show & Charity Event on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 – 7-11pm. The event will benefit PACE Center for Girls.

The artist, Brian Leach WestBuk’s  art first gained attention at age 7. His teacher’s told his parents that he had special artistic talent. Brian won a gold key art award in high school and placed first in an art contest which included high school students throughout Florida. WestBuk began designing logos for businesses in Los Angeles which opened the door for commissioned paintings. WestBuk has hosted several gallery shows and produced commission works for Solomon Burke, rock-n-roll hall of famer and the Miles Davis estate. WestBuk’s painting hang in business locations throughout Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland and Tampa. He describes his art as “guts on canvas” and paints all of his canvas on the floor. Equating his process in boxing terms, “I have it out with the canvas. Twelve rounds, till I knock it out. I never cheat my work. It is 100% guts. 100% me!”
